Printed schedules will be made available and a complete schedule will be posted shortly.
Play on the team you finished the season with last year unless you are instructed differently.
Gentlemen if you know in advance that you can't make it let me know as we have spares wishing to play. For the first few weeks please make every effort to comply well in advance.
Cost due ASAP
$360 per skater (1/2 due by week two and balance before Christmas)
$100 per goalie (non-refundable - up from last year)
Spare money for those in the league will be $5 and those outside of the league $12 and payable to the captain they are sparing for. Should that captain be absence please make alternate arrangements with a league executive.
NOTE: Last year there were several instances where spares did not see it necessary to pay. This lack of accountability will be shared and dealt with accordingly.

News and Notes from the PHL
The early August annual call to arms!!
• Are you in? Will you be returning? Please send your replies to prescotthockey (at) gmail (dot) com .
• League Executive
There is a new sheriff in town. Brian L. has taken over as president with the three remaining captains Tom T. , Brian S. , Larry M. as his assistants and Mark T. as Secretary/Treasurer.
• Advertisements in the Sun and the Citizen
It’s that time of year when we place an ad in the Sun and Citizen looking for players. Over the past several years this has brought in several newbie’s to our dressing rooms.
• Team Composition
Nothing has been finalized in this area. League Executive continue to monitor and changes may be forthcoming.
• The Blog and Google Groups
Here again the league will be using these two vehicles to distribute information. Google Groups gives users the capability to discuss topics online. As for the Blog – it's the best source of info and if you'd like something posted please let us know.
• Opening Day September 6th
League ends March 28th and the cost may change slightly but is earmarked at $360 per skater. Times remain 12 & 1 and a schedule will be posted in a few weeks.
Remember - Please send us an email indicating if you're returning or not.
Thanks

Spares and Sparing
It's become apparent that a few of you believe it's your right to spare. Let's correct that now before we go further.
You're Wrong!!
When you joined this league, you joined to participate one hour each week from September to the end of March.
The "invitation" to participate in a second game was left up to the respective captains (or a deligate) to insure that the spares would not improve their teams overall calibre. ie: an "A" player shouldn't replace a "B" player although a "B" player can replace an "A" player. In addition a "D" player should replace a "C" or "D" player.
The numbers game also continues to be used to a teams advantage. Where a "C" or "D" player is not added in the fear that that would weaken the overall team calibre. Here once again please be respectful and use a league first attitude.
If any of this isn't clear please talk to your captain.
REMINDER - There are some of you that have spared but have forgot to pay before you play. If this happens again, captains will be notified and "invitations" will not be forthcoming.
NOTE: Eight players have yet to complete payment of moneys owing the league. Unbelievably some are repeat offenders. All I can say is wait for the leagues email next fall.

Happy New Year
As we enter into the second half of our schedule I'd like to remind all of you that we have made great strides to improve the league. Each year we make progress and 2007 was better than 06 and it's hoped that 08 will be better still. The caliber of play isn't important, it's that players respect each other and there individual abilities. From time to time players may feel that they are being overlooked or under appreciated and this is far from the truth. If at any time you perceive that something isn't going your way take a moment and think what can I do to help make things better and make it more enjoyable for the other 43 guys. Each and everyone of you has an important part to play in this league and you should keep this in mind. Keep asking yourself - What can I do to help?
Here's to a "Great O 8"

Referees
Although we have become acustomed to playing the game without "Zebras" you are reminded that this does not give license to infactions without penalty. This also goes for slapshots which are not to be used in our league. Reminder here it's to the knee both ways, on take back and follow through.
Stop or you'll be asked to leave!!!
