Covid-19 Update

Although the proof of vaccination has been lifted we will continue to make it a requirement for the balance of our season. Masks are still a requirement - Wed, 1 March 2022 12:37 PM Conditions of Use - QR Codes and Documentation - Mon, 31 January 2022 4:37 PM  Highlights to Changes Physical distancing is not required in venues where POV (proof of vaccination) is required, therefore not required in our arenas or dressing rooms. Active screening is still required, rental clients must either use, or align their screening tool with Ottawa Public Health screening questions.. Contact tracing is no longer required. Proof of Vaccination now requires using Provincial QR Code and Verify Ontario App Proof of Vaccination now requires using Provincial QR Code and Verify Ontario App All residents, age 12 years and older, will be required to use Ontario’s enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code to show proof of vaccination. The certificate can be shown either on their hand-held device or printout. Those with a medical exemption will also need to use the QR code certificate as of January 10.  The app to scan QR codes can be downloaded from the Verify Ontario webpage and now scans proof of vaccination from many different jurisdictions (not just Ontario). Data is not required to use this app and it does not store personal information. Note: As groups have established processes for verifying entry, you will only need to verify new players/spectators using the Verify Ontario App. More information and resources can be found on the Ottawa Public Health Sports and Recreation webpage. In compliance to Ottawa Public Health all participants and spectators are to make available documentation and QR code upon request while at Howard Darwin Memorial Arena. 

Anyone not complying may be asked to leave.

Arena Vaccination Requirements - Thu, 23 Sep 2021 at 13:23

Proof of vaccination required

As of September 22, 2021, you must present proof you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter an indoor recreation facility for most activities, as mandated by provincial regulations (link is external).

Required proof

• Proof you are fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means you have received two doses of a Health Canada approved vaccine at least 14 days prior. The following are accepted:
  • Ontario enhanced vaccine certificate (link is external) (QR code).
    • As of January 4, the certificate with QR code will be the only option accepted for proof of vaccination.
  • Electronic or hard copy of your vaccination receipt (link is external)
    • Until January 4.
  • Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) vaccination booklet
    • Until January 4.
  • Confirmation of vaccination issued by another jurisdiction 
    • Until January 4. People from outside Ontario must follow the Province of Ontario’s instructions on providing their proof of vaccination.)
• Valid identification that shows name and date of birth and has been issued by an institution or public body. Photo identification is not required and the identification does not need to be government-issued.
  

League Seeks Attestors - Sun, 29 Aug 2021 at 16:38

Each team requires one or more attestor(s). The role is to verify the players not already attested for has been double vaccinated for more than 14 days. Attestor(s) are not limited to their team and can attest for any player. We have spares that have expressed interest but have not yet participated so they and other new players will need to be attested for.

The current spare list is approximately 10 of which most have not yet participated.

After this coming weekend we will have only Paul K. the White captain willing to attest. 

Sadly this means that if for any reason Paul or Mark are not at the rink unattested players cannot participate or even worse the contract could be rescinded if they are found participating.

Anyone interested please speak to Mark or Paul.

Supporting Ontario's Recovery Act, 2020 receives Royal Assent

The Government of Ontario has announced that the Supporting Ontario's Recovery Act, 2020, has received Royal Assent.  

This means the Act now becomes law and provides liability protection for workers, volunteers and organizations that make an honest effort to follow public health guidelines and laws relating to COVID-19 protocols. At the same time, it will maintain the right of Ontarians to take legal action against those who willfully, or with gross negligence, endanger others. 

The Supporting Ontario's Recovery Act, 2020 provides targeted protection for those who are making an honest effort to follow public health guidelines and laws, including: 

• Healthcare workers and institutions; 
• Frontline workers who serve the public everywhere from grocery stores to restaurants and retail stores; 
• Businesses and their employees; 
• Charities, non-profit organizations and 
• Coaches, volunteers and minor sports associations

Subject: Urgent: New Provincial Restrictions (Oct. 10-Nov. 6) 

 

Good afternoon,

With Friday’s late afternoon announcement of new provincial restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19, team sports using City arenas will be limited to training and practices only with no scrimmages or competitive play– similar to the restrictions experienced in stage two. This means that adult pick-up hockey is not permitted. These restrictions take effect from October 10^th to November 6^th.

We are hoping that COVID-19 case numbers will trend lower after these restrictions take effect resulting in the resumption of the impacted recreation activities.

PHL 2022 - Update for RTP - City of Ottawa Contract Amendment

Today, the following was received from the City of Ottawa

"The Ontario government announced last week that indoor settings, including arenas will be able to open to the public on January 31^st.

At this time, we have cancelled all dates up to and including January 30^th.

More information, including details of re-opening will be sent out soon."

Today's message from the City indicated that the contract was today amended yet again. We will not be starting January 29th, 2022 which was on the previous contract and it's been changed to February 5th, 2022. This contract amendment in turn changes the amounts that players will owe or seeking in return. For those that did reply as asked I thank you. If you could revisit the situation and advise accordingly that would be greatly appreciated. For those not seeking money in return I also thank you.

In addition, please be reminded the City does not charge for ice time rentals when the facility is unavailable. We do not pay for ice rentals removed from the contract.  

Hopefully you can make it on February 5th and there aren't more changes.

PHL 2022 Schedule - Return to Play - Updated January 25th, 2022

I'm pleased to announce the resumption of our schedule.  

The City has amended the contract and you can sharpen those blades and get the equipment in order so the skates can be laced up on the 29th of January 5th of February << updated

Two significant items that need your attention.

Covid-19 

Effective January 4, 2022 the provincial requirement is the use of the enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code.

Every participant will need their vaccination certification readily available while on site. It is recommended to have both the soft and hard copy while at the arena.

City Contract 2022 January / February / March

The City has amended the contract with time slots as seen below in the schedule.

Those wishing to have their fees adjusted will need to submit a request via email. In that emailed request please indicate the amount you are seeking. Only those that submit an email before January 29th will be considered. I apologize for the short notice but this needs your immediate attention.

In summary: 

• get your vaccination certification up to date with the QR code and make it available
  
• if you're requesting an adjustment please let the league know via email how much before January 29th
  
• the league will review each submission and confirm via email an amount
• respond to the email sent January 22 acknowledging you have read this message

PHL 2021/2022 Season Suspended - Schedule

Released January 4th,2022 

Resulting from a message received this afternoon from the City of Ottawa, authorities have recommended the suspension of arena rental contracts due to the recent Covid-19 variant.

Please take note that participant responsibilities have and may possibly change again.  Please research and keep current on the situation starting with the Ontario’s enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code.

PHL 2021/2022 Adjustment of Participant Fees

Returns or fees owing is predicated on the resumption of play, City contract, money returned to the league and if the participant is in good standing. Those that have paid on time and as requested/required will be eligible for returns first as they are in good standing. Those that have withheld payments to the league are not in good standing and will be dealt with afterward.

2021/2022 Schedule of Fees

The Full Time Skater (FTS) fee to participate for this upcoming season will be $510. All fees are to be paid in full before the last game entering the Xmas break.

Every FTS is asked to pay this fee at the earliest possible time to maintain their position to participate on a weekly basis for the entire schedule. The first 40 skaters to pay in full will be consider FTS.

FTS wishing to play a second game that same Saturday will be required to pay an additional $8 BEFORE YOU PLAY if not paid that day the cost will be $10

The Spare fee for those not a FTS will be $20 per ice rental hour. Upon the 5th / 10th / 15th / 20th /25th game of participation an additional $25 must be paid. Please note that Spare fees are to be paid before participating. 

NOTE: Those participants that pay fees when and as stipulated above will remain in good standing. Those failing to do so will be relieved of their good standing and forfeit the privilege of sparing and of receiving any disbursements of funds returned to the league from cancellations. The league reserves the right to effectuate returns at a time, amount and means of their choosing.

PHL 2020/2021 Season Canceled

 With much regret and after several months effort of our executive we have decided to cancel the 2020/2021 season. After re-purposing McNabb for Covid-19, to relocate to any other location and time could not be achieved in the window of opportunity presented by City. As it turns out this may be for the best as there is a spike in case in the National Capital Region.

We look forward to your return next year.

McNabb Arena Temporary Re-purposing

 Dear McNabb Arena Clients,  

The McNabb Arena is being converted to an alternate emergency use centre. Unfortunately, all arena bookings that were scheduled at McNabb Arena between November 7, 2020 to March 31, 2021 will need to be cancelled or rescheduled. 

We understand the disappointment this change may bring to your plans, but this facility is needed to support our community in another way. Our staff will be pleased to help you find ice time at a suitable alternative location. A member of the Centralized Allocations team will follow up with you in the coming days to discuss options.  

We thank you for your understanding and look forward to accommodating you at another location.

City of Ottawa $$ Returns 2019/2020

 The City of Ottawa has returned money from Ice Rentals for last season 2019/2020. 

All those skaters that paid Full Time fees and are in good standing are eligible for a portion of that return. The return rate will be $50** dollars and will be paid in cash at a mutually agreed time.
