CONVID-19 Looking Ahead

If you have opted out of participation in our League, we definitely respect your decision and hopefully you will be rejoining us soon. Looking to the future, we will not be sending any messages your way as this would not be in your better interest. Should you desire to return please make every effort to reach out and at that time we can assess the capacity of the league. Thank you for your support throughout the years.

To All Players and Spares,

At this point, the city has not closed recreation facilities and the PHL continues to operate. However, if you have any symptoms, have been exposed, or have recently traveled to a high risk region, please do consider staying home and let your captain know. For the safety of the league, do not hesitate to report any potential exposures. Names will be kept confidential.

September 2009 an entry in our blog references the H1N1 predicament.

Please read on ...........
Captains - I have released this email to full time and spare players alike, please feel free to recirculate to insure extensive coverage.

Thank you ......

Subject: CARHA Hockey - Recommended guidelines with respect to COVID-19

Hi ,
In light of the recommended guidelines from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) with respect to COVID-19, CARHA Hockey is considering every safeguard to ensure the safety of the participants, officials, volunteers and fans who take part in our great game. As a result, we are asking teams to replace the traditional post-game handshake with a fist pump (gloves on).
Despite reports of the risk being low for contracting COVID-19 to the general public in Canada, we are doing our due diligence in communicating the following information/recommendations from the Public Health Agency of Canada:
Proper hygiene can help reduce the risk of infection or spreading infection to others:
  1. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the washroom and when preparing food

    • use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available

  2. When coughing or sneezing:

    • cough or sneeze into a tissue or the bend of your arm, not your hand
    • dispose of any tissues you have used as soon as possible in a lined waste basket and wash your hands afterwards

  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands

  4. Clean the following high-touch surfaces frequently with regular household cleaners or diluted bleach (1 part bleach to 9 parts water):

    • toys
    • toilets
    • phones
    • electronics
    • door handles
    • bedside tables
    • television remotes

Thank you,

CARHA Hockey

Hello from Mongolia and Moscow Hockey Tour 2020 (May 6-10)

Hi everyone,

I hope the summer has treated you and yours well. I am still going relatively strong in Mongolia, but should be back in Ottawa about this time next year.

As you know by now, no matter where my location is, the Moscow tournament lives on.
I am happy to report that Sasha and I have set up the next Moscow Tour  (aka Trip of a Lifetime) for May 6-10, 2020.

We are actively recruiting teams and individual players 40 and 50+. This year we hosted a full team from California along with small groups and individual players from Canada, Finland, Japan, France and the Czech Republic.

The venues - CSKA Arena and Golden Ring Hotel - and itinerary are the same. However, we have added a couple of new items such as a Welcome booze cruise along the Moscow River and visit to a traditional Russian sauna. We have also scoped out a couple of excellent night clubs.

The per player cost is 700 Euros (airfare not included). We are offering a 100 Euro discount to return players and their guests as well as anyone who registers before October 15. Spouses are welcome and are not part of the per player cost.

Please check out the video for full details. I would appreciate it if you could share this with anyone you feel might be interested. I will be happy to answer any and all questions.

Many thanks in advance for your attention and consideration. I look forward to seeing you. If not in Moscow, then next summer when I return to Canada.
Cheers,
Steve
